When do you meet?
Pack 553 meets weekly on Thursday nights from 6:00-7:00 at Resurrection Parish in Zillah. The meetings consist of den specific activities lead by the den leaders and pack activities lead by various volunteers. Weekly attendance is encouraged, but not mandatory. Regular attendance will help your Scout make progress through his ranks for promotion.
What activites can I expect my son to participate in?
Each den will hold a variety of activities based on requirements for that age level. However, as a pack, boys will do community service projects, participate in Day Camps, and several outdoor activities. You can find out more about each age level here.
How are families involved?
Parents are an active part of scouting. We ask that an adult attend den and pack meetings with the Scout as often as possible. Parents are also what is known as an Akela to Tiger, Wolf and Bear Scouts. Parents will assist their son in completing projects and activities both at Scout meetings, and at home, and sign off as each item is complete. Webelos are also encouraged by their families, however, the Webelo Den Leader will sign off requirements.
Do I have to buy a uniform?
Boys are expected to have a uniform. These can be purchased at the Scout Store , Online at Scoutstuff.org or often times they can be found at thrift stores, or donated from past scouts. Click here for more information on uniforms.
Can my son still be a part of other things like Sports and still do Scouts?
Yes! Absolutely! Cub Scouts is a year round program. We meet weekly during the school year, and have summer events that families can participate in. While we encourage regular participation, we understand that Scouts are involved in many other activities. Families must find a balance that is best for their Scout.
